The first day of this great festival starts with a bath. According to the Hindi Panchag, the Kharna of Chhath Puja takes place on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. After taking bath, there is Kharna which is also known as Lohanda. Prasad is made for Chhath Puja on the day of Kharna. Fasting is observed for the whole day of Kharna and then in the evening Kheer is eaten as Prasad.
